The Ingredients
abs+ contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) and Green Tea Extract with its main catechin polyphenol, epigallocatechin-gallate (EGCG), standardized at 50%.
See below: Research shows these ingredients may affect the physiology of lipid metabolism and assist in weight management efforts. Results also show the combination of these ingredients can help manage your weight, better than either ingredient alone when used in combination with a healthy diet and exercise.†
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA):CLA is a naturally occurring derivative of the Omega-6 essential fatty acid linoleic acid. See below: Research indicates CLA may promote natural weight maintenance.†
CLA is naturally found in a number of foods, most specifically in beef, whole milk and butter. In order to achieve the amount of CLA required to help you manage your weight however, it is estimated that one would have to consume a large number of calories (and other unhealthy fats), which in-turn promotes weight gain.
In addition, the amount of CLA in dairy products and meats may have declined in recent years due to changes in rearing and feeding practices. This has led some to suggest that the lowered amounts of CLA in these foods may be a factor in the difficulty some have in maintaining a healthy weight.†
Based on human trials, as well as a number of controlled human studies, CLA is shown to promote lean body mass.† These results have been published in prestigious medical journals such as the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry 2001, Journal of Nutrition 2000, Lipids 2001 and the Journal of International Medical Research 2001.
While the studies show CLA can help with overall weight management, there is evidence to show it may allow you to work on your specific weight maintenance targets as well.†
Research indicates that an effective adult dose for weight management is 3,400mg of pure CLA daily.† This is the same amount contained in 6 abs+ softgels (unlike many other formulas which fall significantly short of this research-proven dosage).
Green Tea standardized to EGCG catechins:Green tea has been used for centuries as a medicinal agent (and a delicious beverage). Green tea is widely regarded for its potent antioxidants, which may help support the immune system and may provide extra protection against certain diseases.†
The important natural chemicals in green tea which promote health and weight management appear to be the polyphenols – in particular a catechin called epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG that cannot be found in significant amounts in any other food sources.
Research (see below) indicates EGCG may naturally promote increased fat burning as fuel. During this process, the body may burn more calories, thereby increasing metabolism and the breakdown of fat.†
For example, research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (1999) showed green tea (containing 90mg of EGCG, or the amount found in 2 abs+ softgels) could lead to a 43% increase in thermogenesis in adults, an increase that could not be attributed to the caffeine alone found in green tea.†
Additional research published in Phytomedicine (2002) highlights the ability of green tea to likely increase the burning of fat as fuel, with results showing human weight management.†
It doesn’t end there. It’s also believed that when green tea is combined with CLA, one can expect increased results.†
When you combine this with the effects of the CLA, abs+ may provide unsurpassed, synergistic results.
