    I had a really hard time with the taste of the original greens+...has the taste changed in this product?

    Vegan greens+ O is offered in acai mango, vanilla and original. All flavour options are great tasting! Vegan greens+ O is gluten free and therefore we have removed the wheat grass; you will find it is a lighter flavour than greens+ ORIGINAL because of this change.

    Why is it recommended to not consume Vegan greens+ O if you are on blood thinners?

    This is a natural health product requirement as per Health Canada and is in regards to the ingredients ginkgo, Siberian ginseng and alfalfa – because they have blood thinning properties. Please ask your health care practitioner or pharmacist as to whether or not this product is suitable for you.

    What does the regular greens+ contain that this formula has removed?

    Barley, alfalfa, wheat grass and soy sprouts are removed from the original greens+ formula. Also, probiotics, royal jelly & bee pollen have been removed to create a vegan formula. There have been changes to other ingredients in terms of making the source organic and soy free and slight changes in the amounts.

    Is Vegan greens+ O safe to take while pregnant or breastfeeding?

    It is not recommended, as all greens+ formulas contain standardized herbs and botanical extracts. This caution is a Health Canada requirement and one you will find on the majority of products in our industry with compliant labels. The government takes a very cautious approach with this delicate population and requires this warning on almost all ingredients.

    However, our fermented organic gut superfoods+ is made from fermented fruits, vegetables, culinary herbs and prebiotics, and is safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    Does vegan greens+ O need to be refrigerated after opening? How long is the product good for after opening?

    Refrigeration is recommended to provide optimal product freshness after opening. Refrigeration is a controlled environment, so we know the product is not sitting on a window ledge, on top of a radiator, or kept in other non-optimal storage situations. A cool temperature will also reduce oxidation and maintain probiotic stability. However, greens+ is ok to consume if it has not been refrigerated for a short period of time.

    I saw that your Vegan greens+ O product contains green tea. Does this mean it also contains some caffeine?

    Vegan greens+ O contains the same amount and kind of green tea as in greens+. The product was not tested for caffeine content. That being said, it is going to be minimal given the total green tea dose is only 15mg and below all Health Canada limits for any age.

    Health Canada limits: For the general population of healthy adults, Health Canada advises a daily intake of no more than 400 mg.

    Does your spirulina contain microcystins? If not, how do you guarantee this?

    No, we use only pure spirulina in our greens+ formulas. Pure spirulina does not contain microcrystins. Additionally, the raw material is tested and has always shown as non-detectable (<10 ppb). Health Canada also did some product testing re. microcystins and reported:

    A broad sampling and testing of blue-green algal products was recently performed by Health Canada to measure the levels of microcystins in blue-green algal products available on the Canadian market and to determine the level of risk to Canadian consumers. Results of the testing, conducted at three separate laboratories, indicate that no microcystins were detected in blue-green algal products containing only the blue-green algae Spirulina.

    Can Vegan greens O+ be mixed in with a smoothie and still provide the same benefits as if it is mixed with water or juice?

    Is there any significant amount of calcium in this product?

    There is 10% of the daily recommended value of calcium (110mg) in one scoop of Vegan greens+ O.

    What is the difference between vegan greens+ O and fermented whole body NUTRITION with greens+?

    fermented whole body NUTRITION with greens+ has the same base as Vegan greens+ O which provides an allergen free and vegan product. In addition to that, fermented whole body NUTRITION with greens+ contains 70% fermented ingredients, including 12 grams of fermented rice protein, and research proven ingredients to support brain, mood and eyes!

    Fermentation creates new bioactive chemicals that have more potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  The newly formed plant chemicals are capable of shifting the gut microbial population toward one of a healthy state. Therefore, fermented whole body NUTRITION with greens+ nourishes the body where it matters most – our gut. Our gut is integral to our overall health and nutrition, and if it is not in optimal condition, we won’t be either.

    I noticed there is a bit of evaporated coconut palm nectar in the greens + O acai mango. How many grams of sugar does greens + O acai mango contain per scoop? Is there another flavour greens + O that doesn't have the evaporated coconut palm nectar and perhaps uses only stevia?

    One serving of Vegan greens+ O acai mango contains 245 mg of coconut palm nectar. We have only tested our Vegan greens+ O unflavoured for its nutritional value, it contains 1 g of naturally occurring sugar (it does not contain coconut palm nectar, it only contains stevia). Vegan greens+ O acai mango will contain slightly more than 1 g sugar coming directly from the coconut palm nectar.

    Why does the label say to consult your health care practitioner before taking greens+ O if you have iron deficiency?

    The caution on several greens+ formulas is a general cautionary note required by the NHPD (a branch of Health Canada) in regards to the ingredient green tea. The caution is mandated due to older and largely experimental (animal) studies suggesting that iron absorption is inhibited by green tea. More recently, Dr Tsung Cheng of the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington D.C. has refuted these claims. Indeed he has shown convincing evidence in humans indicating that green tea does not interfere with iron absorption. (Cheng T. Green tea does not inhibit iron absorption. Int J Cardiology 2009;133:112). Regarding human iron interaction with green tea, Dr. Cheng concludes, “In some parts of the world there is a belief that green tea may inhibit iron absorption and thus result in iron deficient anemia. Unfortunately, this is not supported by any scientific evidence.”

    As per this caution any use of vegan greens+ O by those with iron deficiency or anemia must be under the direction of a healthcare provider.
