Yes, all of the plant proteins in fermented vegan proteins+ are fermented. The only ingredients that are not fermented are the natural flavors and sweeteners; listed under the non-medicinal ingredients.
fermented vegan proteins+ doesn’t have to be blended into a smoothie. It can be shaken with water or any milk alternative. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, add fermented vegan proteins+ to your favorite granola bar, pancake or baked good recipe for increased protein and longer lasting fuel (check out our recipes page for some great ideas).
We don’t make vegan proteins with single ingredients because most vegetarian proteins as stand-alone products don’t have balanced amino acid profiles (making them incomplete sources of protein). For example, pea protein is lower in essential amino acids methionine, tryptophan and cysteine and rice protein is lower in lysine and threonine. It’s interesting that among vegans, lysine and methionine is close to 50% lower, and tryptophan is nearly 20% lower than meat eaters.
The key to a healthy diet is a variety of nutrients that include vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and amino acids. This is why we formulated fermented vegan proteins+ with 7 plant sources not included in the everyday diet – including grains, legumes and seeds – for a wide spectrum of amino acids. This amino acid profile provides a “safety net” for physical health and mood support.
First thing’s first, let’s clear up some confusion around the term “raw.” “Raw” foods by definition are those that haven’t been heated above 118°F or 48°C. Proponents of the raw food diet say that because the food hasn’t been heated, it is richer in enzymes, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals that can be destroyed through the cooking process.
While some companies on the market like to claim their protein powders are “raw,” this may be a bit misleading. Raw foods, by nature, are very minimally processed, however, when creating protein powder this is nearly impossible. The ingredients that go into protein powders need to be milled, processed, and sanitized in a way that makes them both safe and effective for consumption, which requires the use of heat. While no heat is added to the finished product, it is a bit misleading to label the product as truly “raw.” Unfortunately at this time there are no government standards or definition around this term, which allows for a lot of grey area when it comes to using the term on a product’s label.
fermented vegan proteins+ is not raw, but it is 100% fermented. The fermentation process is pretty amazing, because it not only makes the protein more digestible and absorbable, but it also creates entirely new nutrients that help to support a healthy gut.
Inulin is a type of fructo-polysaccharide that is found in thousands of plants. Inulin can’t be digested by the human body, so it acts as “food” for gut bacteria. Gut bacteria need to eat in order to thrive, and inulin can multiply good bacteria. But for anyone with an imbalance of gut bacteria (known as “dysbiosis”), inulin can encourage the growth of unfriendly bacteria. This can spell trouble in the way of digestive discomfort (i.e. gas and bloating).
We created our fermented proteins with one goal: to aid digestion and help to support the gut. This is why we don’t use inulin in any of our products. We prefer to nourish friendly bacteria via fermentation and polyphenols.
fermented vegan proteins+ has not been tested for naturally occurring vitamin K as it was not created to be a vitamin K supplement. There is likely to be some amount due to the nature of the ingredients.
According to Health Canada regulations, a product must have absolutely none, zilch, zero of the allergen (besides gluten – which is <20ppm) to call itself “free from.” That means just one part per million (1ppm or 0.000001%) of an allergen means you can no longer claim the product is “free from” this ingredient. As you can imagine, ensuring we have absolutely zero cross-contamination 100% of the time is nearly impossible to guarantee. Therefore, in the interest of safety for the hypersensitive we have removed these “does not contain” claims from the product packaging.
For our food products where high-risk allergens are present in the facility, additional comments may be included such as seen on our bar products, i.e. “May contain: Peanuts, milk, soy, tree nuts and egg.” For our powders and pills where the allergen is present in the facility, rigorous processes are in place to prevent cross-contamination. These controls include sanitation of equipment between product changeovers, production room clearance, air balance/flow controls and air filtration. These processes have been validated and compliance is continually monitored and audited. That being said, those with severe allergies should take care before consuming any product from any brand that is not certified as free of that particular allergen.

Nope! fermented vegan proteins+ does not need to be refrigerated.
There are no live probiotics left in the final product. After the fermentation process, the plant protein mixture with the probiotics is heated to stop the fermentation process and thus the probiotics die off. The entire process is strictly monitored to ensure that each step is precise and timed properly, so as to provide the desired level of fermentation. Post-production testing ensures that the product is clean and safe.
The majority of the sodium in fermented vegan proteins+ is naturally occurring in the pea protein.

fermented vegan proteins+ (and all of the supplements that we make, for that matter) are licensed by Health Canada and are tested as per regulations. These tests include heavy metals, pesticides, microbes and solvents. Depending on the ingredients other tests may be performed (i.e. fish oils are tested for oxidation, PCBs, etc.). We use only non-GMO ingredients and ensure this through supplier attestations and third party PCR testing.
The recommended dose is 1 scoop per day, providing 20g of protein. If you would like to take more it will depend on your protein needs and total daily intake. In general, a healthy and moderately active adult needs 0.8-1g of protein per kg of bodyweight per day. You need to consider all protein intake as well as needs to ensure that you are not taking too much.
Adult Dosage: Mix 1 scoop (29.5 g) into 1-2 cups (8-16 oz) of your beverage of choice.
